Are the collars, leashes, harnesses and pendants waterproof?

  • DOGlite Pendants are waterproof, however DOGlite collars, leashes and harnesses are not and are only water resistant (splash-proof only), we do not recommend submerging these products in water or used when swimming.
  • Pendant = Waterproof and suitable for swimming
  • Collars/Harnesses/Leashes = Water resistant (Splash proof) only. Not suitable for swimming.

Is the LED harmful to the dog or myself?

  • The light illuminating from the fully assembled product is not harmful to pets or humans. 
  • Do not turn on the switch if the product has been disassembled.
  • As with any light, it is not recommend staring at the light for long periods.

 

Will the LED freak my dog out?

  • Believe it or not, dog's don't even realise the light is on as it is behind their line of site and illuminates from the neck down and back. DOGlite products have two settings, ON and SLOW FLASH mode. If you find that your dog is irritated by the LED light, simply refrain from use of the SLOW FLASH mode and enjoy an all round glow.

 

Is there warranty on the products?

  • DOGlite products include a 12 month guarantee against workmanship and materials. This does not include damage relating to moisture and general wear-and-tear.

  • DOGlite products (excluding Pendant) are not waterproof or designed to be submerged in water


 

 

How long do the batteries last?

  • CR 1220 batteries last approx. 40-60hrs (MINI DOG range)
  • CR 2032 batteries last approx. 60-80hrs (One Way, Double Trouble, Colour Code and Northern Lights)

 

Why replaceable batteries and not USB rechargeable batteries?

  • USB rechargeable batteries require daily charging and will switch off when the charge runs out rather than dim as Lithium batteries do.
  • For a general use, DOGlite batteries should only need to be changed around every 6-12 months and will dim as the battery weakens, giving plenty of notice as to when to change the battery.

 

Am I able to replace batteries when flat?

  • Absolutely. Replacement batteries are cheap and are available through DOGlite stockists, our online store and/or retailers of battery products.

 

Should you leave flat batteries in the products?

  • Remove flat batteries from product as soon as possible, do not leave in product as corrosion may occur causing harm to animal. Insert battery correctly. 
  • Do not dispose of battery in fire or carry loosely in pocket or handbag. Do not mix batteries, change expired batteries at same time. 
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. Do not swallow, if consumed seek immediate medical attention.

 

Should l reseal the switch cases when the batteries are replaced?

  • For maximum life of your product, we suggest resealling the switch case with an all Clear Multi Purpose silicon (neutral clear) around the edge of the cases prior to assemble.  Once assembled remove any excess silicon.

 

Can you wash the products?

  • We suggest you wipe the products clean with a moist cloth using only water.
  • Do not wash any electrical component.

 

What happens if the collar, leash or harness becomes submerged in water?

  • If the product is submerged in water (rain etc is ok), remove the product from the dog.
  • Remove batteries from the switch assembly and dry all components thoroughly.
  • Leave all components suitable time to dry out.
  • We recommend installing new batteries and resealing the switch assembly (silicon) when reassembling the product.

 

How do you change the batteries on Collars, Harnesses and/or Leashes

  • Remove the protective rubber sleeve over the switch.
  • Slide the switch assembly sideways out of the product.  Do not remove the optical fibre clear strip from the product
  • Insert a small flat bladed screwdriver carefully into the case recess at the corner and pry the cases apart.
  • Remove both parts of the casing so switch (green circuit board) is fully exposed. (Take care not to interfere with circuit. Do not pull away from the product.)
  • Replace both batteries, Check operation.
  • For maximum seal (optional) apply All Clear Multipurpose silicon (neutral clear) around the inside edge of the cases, install the switch onto the locating posts on one half of the case. Install the other case half pressing both firmly together.
  • Remove any excess silicon from the case.
  • Reinstall the switch into the product and fit rubber protective sleeve.

 

    Pendant

  • Insert a small flat bladed screwdriver carefully into the case recess at the corner and pry the cases apart.
  • Remove the switch assembly from the case
  • Replace both batteries, Check operation.
  • Install the switch into the pendant and press both halves together until completely sealed.

 

 

 

FAQ SLAPlite

 

Is SLAPlite waterproof?

  • No, SLAPlite bands are only water resistant (splash-proof only)
  • SLAPlite is suitable for sporting activities not involving water.
  • If SLAPlite becomes soaked (standard sweating is ok) remove battery from switch and allow all items to dry completely before reassembly.

   

Can you replace the battery in SLAPlite?

  • Yes, replaceable batteries are available (CR1220 coin lithium battery)
  • Simply open the Velcro section at end of product and use small tweezers to pull out switch/circuit. (only pull out enough to change batteries).
  • Do not remove the optical fibre strip from the SLAPlite band when replacing the battery. 
  • Remove flat batteries from product, do not leave flat batteries in product as corrosion may occur causing harm to persons. Insert battery correctly.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Do not swallow, if consumed seek immediate medical attention.

 

Can you wash SLAPlite?

  • It is recommended that you only wipe the exterior nylon with a moist cloth (water)
